WHY CAN’T I STAY CONSISTENT?

Why can't I stay consistent?

Consistency

Hey beautiful people!

My most sincere apologies for being away for so long. I didn’t mean to keep you hanging.

Anyways, I hope you’ve been doing great!

I made an Instagram post last week about struggling with consistency in achieving a few of my goals this year. Blog post writing is one of them. It’s incredible how as crucial as motivation is to start a project, on its own, it is not sufficient in achieving consistency.

Consistency, when achieved is usually a reflection of discipline, intentionality and sheer determination to get the work done. It is not an entertainer of EXCUSES.

I thought to write about a few barriers that I have experienced in my consistency journey.

BARRIER #1:

Lack of clarity of purpose.

Your inability to clarify your ‘why’ for a project would make it easier for your feelings to get in the way when life’s challenges show up.

Clarity fuels passion. A foggy mind is a breeding ground for a lack of creativity. This translates to feeling less inspired and motivated to take simple steps towards that project.

Maybe start by understanding your reason for that path you want to toe.

BARRIER #2:

Overthinking!

I’m definitely guilty of this! LOL.

When I think about writing a blog post, what comes to mind is how many times I would need to edit my draft, where I would get appropriate images for the post, how long it would take me to write, etc.

Well, as you can tell, this hasn’t helped much given I have ended up leaving you hanging without blog posts for months. My sincerest apologies!

The more you overthink a task, the more difficult your brain processes accomplishing it.

Asides from the anxiety that comes with the concept of overthinking our plans, we may eventually realise that at the back of our minds, we have simply just been entertaining excuses disguised in the form of “perfectionism”.

Overthinking is the enemy of action! Just take action with what you have where you are!

BARRIER #3:

Lack of Accountability Partners.

Lately, I have become more aware of the power of association with people of common goals and interests. These people serve as fire-lighters in our journey.

As you may already know, our energy levels are not always high. To keep them up, we need inspiration from people of similar interests and values who want to see us succeed. This is why it is important to not be a loner on your creativity journey.

Having an accountability partner helps to keep you on track and serves to remind you why you started in the first place.

I hope from this post, you would work at understanding your ’why’, stop overthinking and identify people who set your passion ablaze so you can successfully execute your God-given purpose.

Thank you for giving me your time!

See you soon!

Aarin.
