About me

Meet Aarin

Hey friends,

My name is Aarinola Olaiya. My close friends and family call me Aarin. I am a Nigerian, a Christian, and a Medical Doctor.

I live and write from England, United Kingdom where I am currently undergoing postgraduate training in Internal Medicine Specialty.

Dr Aarin

What I am famously known for:

I’m famously known for my academic achievements. I am the type some people refer to as a brainiac. I have also been called a genius and an enigma. I bet you are currently wondering why. In 2017, I graduated top of my medical school class at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria with 13 distinctions and 17 prizes. The icing on the cake was my record-breaking feat of bagging a distinction in surgery in 28 years! This resulted in making rounds on multiple social media platforms at the time. Catch a glimpse here!

Upon graduation, I became more aware of how the four walls of the classroom may not have equipped one for what the outside world is likely to throw at you. To circumvent this, I became extremely keen on all things personal development and have since enjoyed its numerous benefits both personally and professionally.

Something else peculiar about me:

I enjoy pushing my friends and family toward achieving their best potential. Some of my friends find me overbearing when it comes to this…LOL. In developing this trait of mine, I have been privileged to serve as the Co-ordinator of the Personal and Professional Development Hub at the Excellence in Medicine Women Physician Network (EIM for short). In this capacity, I host webinars, interview senior doctors and create content that inspires young female physicians to excel in life and career. If this interests you, connect with EIM here.

Fun facts about me:

  1. I prefer to drink bananas in a smoothie rather than eat from the peel.
  2. I engaged in my first high ropes experience during a weekend outing with two of my amazing friends in July 2022.
  3. I only started drinking coffee in 2020 after moving to the UK and have been a sucker for coffee since then. PS: I have tried not to get addicted though.
  4. I believe in living my best life per time and will invest reasonably in achieving this.
  5. I have a diastema that I might likely close up soon.

Why I started this blog:

Over the last decade or more, I have invested in working toward achieving academic attainments. I am now intent on adding a twist to my day-to-day life by promoting my creative side through this blog to start with. I believe in living unapologetically and enjoying the little things of life while leaving a trail of impact. I am earnestly looking forward to bringing you a piece of my thoughts on the lessons I am learning as I navigate life as a woman, a medical doctor, and a young person in this millennium.
